Baby Growth and Feeding
What it is
Use matching family feed to shorten a baby’s growth time. Feeding is optional because babies also grow naturally.
Food matches a family rather than an individual pet name. Mineral Feed is for Terravore, Bloom Feed for Verdant, Tidal Feed for Tidecaller, and Cinder Feed for Forgeheart. A hybrid accepts the feed of either parent family. Adult pets in your collection do not use this baby-feeding control, and unhatched eggs cannot eat.

How to start
Visit your physical incubator and select the baby you want to grow. Click Feed to choose matching family food from your inventory. An empty cursor opens Select Pet Food. A suitable food item on your cursor can be used directly. The picker displays carried family feed and consumes the item you select. It does not sell food.
Buy family feed from Eldrin the Beastkeeper when the daily food offer matches the baby. Inspect the family label and coin quote before buying. The trader allows a purchase only when you have not already used your daily purchase allowance, and another player can buy the shared offer first. Purchases go through Pet Delivery, so collect purchased feed before trying to give it to a baby. Keep the selected nursery slot consistent when switching between collecting delivery and feeding.
Steps
A short inspection prevents buying the wrong family food or feeding the wrong selected slot.
- Open Physical Incubator at your placed block.
- Select the hatched baby and read its family, rarity, timer, and feed count.
- If you have no suitable feed, visit Eldrin and inspect the food family and coin price.
- Buy the matching available offer if you still have your daily trader purchase.
- Collect your purchase from Pet Delivery and return to the nursery.
- Select the baby again, click Feed, and choose its family food from Select Pet Food.
- Collect the completed adult through the nursery completion control and Pet Delivery.
Reference
The trader food price is the larger of its minimum and its percentage of the server economy, rounded to whole coins. That price is attached to the daily food offer rather than the baby’s rarity. Food accelerates the baby timer, while the initial egg timer remains separate.

When feeding or buying fails
The slot must contain a baby below its feed limit. Empty slots, eggs, adults, and babies already at the feed limit cannot accept another feed. Wrong-family food is rejected with the expected family identified. Ordinary edible Minecraft items are not family pet feed. If the selected baby changes while the operation runs, refresh the nursery and try against the current baby.
Eldrin needs the server economy to accept a purchase. Insufficient funds, a changed price, a sold offer, or an already used daily purchase stops that purchase. If you cannot buy feed, natural growth continues without it. Feeding is an acceleration option rather than an upkeep requirement. A purchased feed item waiting in Pet Delivery is not yet available in your carried inventory.
Worked example
Pebble Whelp belongs to Terravore, whose babies use Mineral Feed.
A fresh Common baby has 2 days of natural growth. Each matching feed subtracts a tenth of that full duration, and 10 feeds finish a fresh baby immediately. Suppose Eldrin offers the right family feed: compare his food percentage, 0.2%, with the 15,000-coin minimum and use the displayed higher quote. A successful purchase gives 1 feed. The daily trader limit means you cannot buy a full instant-growth set by repeatedly clicking today’s offer.
If the baby has already spent part of its natural growth time in the incubator, fewer feeds can finish it. The timer never goes earlier than the present, so the final useful feed makes the adult available immediately. Do not buy a complete feeding set without checking the progress already earned by waiting.
Limits and rules
The feed limit belongs to each baby, not to the physical block. Another baby in another slot keeps its own count and deadline. The game does not require a daily feeding schedule: elapsed time and each successful feed both count toward adulthood. Closing the interface leaves the growth clock running.
Hybrids inherit food compatibility from either parent family. You do not need a separate hybrid-only food purchase. Trader food is family-specific and its price is an economy quote, while nursery compatibility checks the family. Read the food family and baby family together before buying. A matching family is the essential feeding requirement. An expensive price does not turn incompatible feed into a suitable food.
Your questions
Will my baby die without food?
The nursery grows babies with a timer. Food accelerates that timer. This feeding path does not impose starvation.
Why is Feed unavailable?
Select a baby. Empty slots, eggs, and adults cannot be fed.
Why is this food the wrong type?
Its family must match the baby, or either parent family for a hybrid.
Do I always need the full feed count?
No. Natural elapsed time plus fewer feeds can already finish growth.
Why did my purchase not appear on the cursor?
The purchase is saved to Pet Delivery. Collect it into your inventory first.
What happens if I cannot pay?
The trader purchase stops. You can keep waiting for natural growth or use suitable feed you already own.
Does feeding reduce the egg timer?
No. Only the baby growth stage accepts family food.
